The
Most High
When I-was in college, I heard that drinking
Miller beer would give me the "High Life." I believed it.
Eventually, I held the school record for drinking a can of beer in 3.5
seconds. I got high, but it just wasn't high enough. I dropped out of
college and did the "hippy scene" for awhile. I took LSD, a high
that promised to meet my needs by taking me into unexplored dimensions of
the mind. I believed it. But I always came down from the high and was
disappointed. I left that trip to become an entertainer, singing in night
clubs like Frank Sinatra's Bistro and Jilly's South in Miami Beach. Among
this crowd the "High Life" meant having fast cars, money, women
and your name up in lights. I believed it. I lived in this fast lane for
awhile, but I still felt lost, with no real meaning or hope in life. Next,
I got involved with organized crime dealing drugs. They told me that fast
money and power would improve my life. I believed it.....
