The Most High

When I-was in college, I heard that drinking Miller beer would give me the "High Life." I believed it. Eventually, I held the school record for drinking a can of beer in 3.5 seconds. I got high, but it just wasn't high enough. I dropped out of college and did the "hippy scene" for awhile. I took LSD, a high that promised to meet my needs by taking me into unexplored dimensions of the mind. I believed it. But I always came down from the high and was disappointed. I left that trip to become an entertainer, singing in night clubs like Frank Sinatra's Bistro and Jilly's South in Miami Beach. Among this crowd the "High Life" meant having fast cars, money, women and your name up in lights. I believed it. I lived in this fast lane for awhile, but I still felt lost, with no real meaning or hope in life. Next, I got involved with organized crime dealing drugs. They told me that fast money and power would improve my life. I believed it.....

But all that happened was that I was arrested for smuggling drugs internationally, convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to 75 years in prison. I was empty again. Even though I had no hope of ever getting out, I heard a message in April 16, 1977, that changed my life. I was told that Jesus Christ paid a price on a cross nearly 2,000 years ago that could make a difference in my life. I had. heard about religion, but never in my life had I heard that I could actually know a living God through His Son, Jesus. As you've probably guessed by now, all they said I had to do was Believe. All of my life I had been told to believe that my life would be great if I could get certain things. But the highs that came from drinking, drugs ,fame, money, women, and power all left me empty and broken. Now I was being asked to believe in a love so high that the world could never understand it--a love that wanted to forgive me of my past and give me the strength to live one day at a time.

This love of God would enter my life if I would only believe that He sent His son, Jesus, to die for my sins; and thank God, I believed it! You know, one of the names which God calls Himself is "The Most High" Numbers 24:16; II Samuel 22:14). If you truly want The "High Life," Christ in Jesus Christ today. Simply pray:
"Father God, I want the "High Life" that You promised. I am a sinner who needs a Savior. I am trusting now in the price that Jesus paid on the cross for me. Save me, Jesus, and keep me forever. Thank You, Lord!"

Read Romans 10:9-11 and I John 5:13 to know that it's forever.
